Crowns & Bridges
A crown protects a tooth with a large filling from breaking, allowing you to chew comfortably and with confidence. It is a custom-made cover over your own tooth, restoring function and aesthetics. Crowns can be made of all porcelain, porcelain bonded to metal, or gold.
We will discuss the material, shape, size, position and colour of the crown or bridge at the consultation, depending on your needs.
Bridges are designed to fill gaps left when one or more teeth are missing. They are a fixed appliance and come in several types and traditionally use your existing teeth as support for ‘bridging’ your gaps. In these cases, the supporting adjacent teeth are prepared to become part of the bridge, and, once cemented in place, provide a seamless continuity of appearance and function.
Types of Bridges include: Adhesive/Resin Bonded Bridge, Conventional Bridgesand Implant-retained Bridges
Crown and Bridge Case Studies
“My thanks to Dr Tromp at the St Mary street dental practice in Chippenham and his two charming dental nurses. I have never been more at ease at a dentist before and never in any pain. After asking you what you want to achieve dental wise, Dr Tromp will then suggest what can be done and give you options. Be it white teeth, crowns implants etc. The practice has all the modern equipment and x-rays, which is shown and explained to you in the dentist chair. After nearly 40 years once again I have my smile back also my confidence. You are never too old to make a difference to your life.”

4. Diane requested her smile to be corrected but to retain the existing tooth shade.
Her initial comments and request: “Nowadays I seldom smile. I do not want to have my teeth whitened. The crown and bridgework should look natural and blend in well with the rest of my teeth retaining their current natural shade. Even my closest friends shouldn’t notice.”
